[Bob, W9RAN checked into the Feb 9, 2020 20M Vintage Sideband Net and sounded great with this one-of-a-kind hombrew piece.  Click on the link above for all the details and lots of pictures.]

[ Walt Cates, WD0GOF, is probably THE authority on these awesome transceivers.  I was fortunate enough to have him go through my SR-150 a few years back. ]More SR-150 rigs were produced than any other SR series rigs. There were 7 production runs from 1960 – 1965. Documentation on production run 4 authorizes the purchase of parts and build of 250 units....  READ MORE

[Does this remind anyone else of the The Gods Must Be Crazy?]Stargazers have already mistaken SpaceX’s Starlink satellites for alien spacecraft. Now, CEO Elon Musk says the devices used to connect to the micro-sats will look like UFOs, too.The Starlink Terminal will look like “a thin, flat, round UFO on a stick,” Musk tweeted on Tuesday, noting that users...  READ MORE

A young friend recently spent a week learning about radio astronomy at the Green Bank Observatory in West Virginia. His experience prompted me to ask: How big a radio antenna would you need to observe anything interesting? It turns out the answer is a half meter across. For less than US$150 I built one that size, and it can easily detect the motions of the spiral arms of the Milky W...  READ MORE
